While we were at Mayo, I went through the underground tunnels and eventually found myself in a little shop called “Counterpoints.” It was very cool. I immediately saw this book. As a tour guide for young children at Philbrook Art Museum, I can spot a good read a mile away. This one was extra special.
It was written by a local Minnesota student, Peter Hoffman when he was in the fifth grade! Peter had a thing about ferrets at the time and decided to write a story about Jackson Pollack. I was hooked. The illustrations are by his fifth grade art teacher, Cindy Olson. What could be more endearing than a published book by a child? He is in college now but still! This book is a keeper!
