foundation

When you invest in your own development as a teacher, we invest in causes that matter.

We are excited to announce in January 2018, The Chris MacArthur Foundation will be founded.

This foundation will work on three priorities:

  • Helping teachers in crisis.
  • Helping children in crisis.
  • Supporting teacher professional development and resources

Teachers in Crisis

It has been reported that teachers' weekly wages are nearly 23% lower than those of other college graduates. In Oklahoma, the state where I live, teacher’s pay is 49th in the country. Many of my colleagues have to work second jobs to make ends meet. Recently, a teacher friend had her car breakdown and no money to repair it.

Helping Children in Crisis

One in six children, worldwide, faces hunger. At the most basic level, as a company, we feel the urgent need to support global efforts to end hunger. Children cannot learn when they are worried about where the next meal will come from.

Supporting Classrooms and Professional Development

Outdoor classrooms, beautiful environments, amazing materials. . .these things transform the learning experience. Beginning in 2018, we will offer the Chris MacArthur grant. Details and application process will be released in January 2018.

Mary Christine McArthur, “Chris” died from a long time battle with Huntington’s Disease in September of 2014. Chris was a dedicated mother of three beautiful daughters, Courtney Ferrante, Caitlin McArthur, and Kelsey McBoyd. She worked as a teacher with a passion for children and education.

The Chris McArthur Foundation will be established as a legacy of Chris’ desire for a world where no children experience hunger or are denied an education.
