2 cups of flour
2 cups of colored water (I used Wilton “Red Red” Food dye – is bright red!)
1 Tbsp. of cooking oil
2 Tbsp. cream of tartar
1 cup of salt
Directions:
Place all of the ingredients in a medium size pan. Cook on medium heat and stir it until the playdough thickens. Knead the dough until smooth.
I let the children knead the glitter into the dough. I add gold and red glitter to make it “lucky” Chinese playdough!
I sprinkle the glitter on the table for the children to knead into the dough.
Beautiful playdough! So fun and colorful! We will have to make some soon.
Have a happy week,
Colleen:)
I love it! We are celebrating Chinese New Year at school, my class will love this. Thanks.
My kids at home will love making it 🙂
In early childhood – playdough is king! It amazes me how much children adore playdough. It adds such excitement to stir-up a special batch that fits the occasion! A good dusting of fairy dust indeed!! Thank you for your comments!
Oh wow! I have been looking for Chinese New Year ideas! This is awesome!
Perfect! So simple but so unique! The kids will love it. Thanks for sharing! Love your blog!
I just made valentine’s playdought with red foodcoloring and red and silver glitter. Wish I would have saw the “Goodluck” Chinese playdough yesterday.
I featured this post in my Fave Five Friday post that will be up tomorrow morning so please stop by if you can 🙂 If you would rather I didn’t use a picture, please let me know and I will just use a text link. I also have a featured button if you would like to use it. Thanks for sharing a great idea!
Can you please tell me how much this makes? I need to make enough for 9 kids to each take some home — would I need to double/triple the ingredients?
Thanks so much!
Personally, I think it makes enough for 4 children. It depends on how much you give them but for a nice bit – 4 children.
Cool activity! How long does this last?
About a week if kept in a sealed container. Fun!
Made this with my preschoolers last week and they LOVED it! The vibrancy is awesome and of course they love the glitter. : )
Yay!! It is so much fun!
