This is a super fun playdough center – perfect during the fairy tale, The Three Little Pigs. I make a big batch of brown playdough and put out the three materials the three pigs used to build their houses. I let the children know that they can build a house for their “pig” any way they wish. Sometimes they want to add rocks and shells. It is so much fun!
Materials:
Brown Playdough (I like to use Wilton's brown food dye)
straw
sticks
bricks (used as the foundation to build on)
a small plastic pigs
The children simply push playdough on to the brick and they can make the sticks stand up.
This student wanted to use some of the driftwood we had in a basket in science. Love it!
You can see the playdough in this photo.
So fun!
LOVE this!
The children love building. Playdough is magic!
I think this is the coolest and most exciting Centre I have ever seen!!
Thank you Bev. The children are LOVING it! Today we added pine cones and rocks!
I love this! How delightful! What a great way to integrate story time 🙂
Love this idea! I’ll definitely be using this one!
I love the idea so much. What do you do with the playdough after ? Able to salvage or is it garbage ?
We were able to reuse it for a couple of weeks, then it was done!
Did each student have a brick to build their house?
It is a center with 6 bricks so that the children could rotate through and use them with the playdough when they wanted to!
What great idea! I’m going to try this on Monday.

love it! Excellent activity to reproduce the fairy tale and stimulate story telling but integrate uses of different material.
