This is a super easy and fun project.   It requires adult supervision.

What you will need:

  • metal foil sheets (Dick Blick 12 aluminum sheets for $2.84)
  • wooden styluses or pencils
  • newspapers
  • optional:  cardboard frames (Dick Blick 12 white for $3.68)

Here are the aluminum 5″ x 5″ sheets

You want newspapers that are fairly thick.

Method One:  Using a pencil or wood stylus press into the metal – drawing your design.

Method Two:  Select leaves and sticks.

Make a pad out of paper towel.  Press over the top of the aluminum sheet.

Method Three:  Use a rubbing plate.

Put the rubbing plate under the aluminum sheet.  Using a paper towel pad press.

Paint the white cardboard frame with watercolors.

Tape the metal art piece to the back of the frame.

Cut a piece of poster board to fit the back (to hide the ugly tape).
