First, a big thank-you to Patty and her co-teacher Jenni for sharing their amazing classrooms!!
Hold on tight! This is a massive post! But it will be worth every visual morsel. First, I am going to share most of the items in Patty's Art Center. Then, following the materials, I have posted a few of the open-ended creations the children created in this center.
I absolutely think it is critical to provide access to open-ended art in the classroom. I love how Patty has provided such a diversity of materials.
Here is art shelf. Below is a peek into those baskets and boxes.

We have an art cart in the room with most of these materials on it ready for the kids to use. I love the shelf they have their items displayed on! I will also add a basket of metal bits to the cart. Thank you for sharing.
Wow! I loved seeing all the art materials displayed in baskets. I feel somewhat justified in my basket obsession (and collection) now. Just wish I had enough room to set out all those different materials.
I have almost as many things on my open art shelf. We are fortunate to have a free accessible program in my board where we can get loose parts and many other goodies like fabric books and cardboard etc. We recently acquired some blank cd’s and reams of shiny strips of foil paper. The kids loved making octopuses as their own ideas.
